Doug was born in the thick of Blues Country on the banks of the Mighty Mississippi in Helena, Arkansas. He learned to play guitar at age 12 and was writing songs by age 15. He was heavily influenced by Townes Van Zandt, Steve Earle, Waylon Jennings, Hank Williams Jr. and Ray Wylie Hubbard. In 2012 he signed a publishing deal with Simply Grand Music in Memphis. Doug currently is working with Dan Hodges Music in Nashville. 
He is also the lead vocalist/lead guitarist for the band Deep South. Doug also plays solo acoustic shows. He's played a wide range of venues including The Bluebird Cafe in Nashville and Red's Blues Club in Clarksdale, Mississippi as well as many others from Colorado to Key West. You can hear originals as well as covers ranging from Robert Johnson to the Foo Fighters to Johnny Cash.

Doug currently has several songwriting projects in the works with Dan Hodges Music in Nashville. He has written songs with Canadian artist Tenille Arts, Australian artist Cassidy Gaiter, Irish artist Shane Sullivan, Nashville based songwriter Marty Morgan, Conner Christian and many others. Doug continues to collaborate with many
artists as well as other songwriters. 
Doug has a song on the new Tenille Arts album "Rebel Child" released October 20th. He wrote "Steal A Heart" with Tenillle and Adam Wheeler. The album debuted at #2 on iTunes!
